Golden Weekends: 5 New Spots I’m Loving Around Golden Right Now
One of my favorite things about living and working in Golden is that there is always something new to discover. Even if you’ve lived here for years, Golden continues to evolve while somehow still feeling like the same small mountain town we all love.
Lately, we’ve had some really great additions … new restaurants and coffee shops, a completely refreshed park, a gorgeous creekside patio, and even a brand-new trail on South Table Mountain.
So, consider this the late summer edition of my Golden Weekends list. These are five new or newly updated Golden spots I’m loving right now.
1. Call Your Mother Deli — My New Breakfast + Lunch Stop
If you haven't been to Call Your Mother Deli yet, Golden officially has its own location right on Washington Avenue — and it is such a fun addition to downtown. Call Your Mother is known for its bagels, schmears, breakfast sandwiches and seriously good lunch sandwiches, plus coffee and pastries. The Golden shop is at 1106 Washington Avenue, making it an easy stop before wandering downtown, heading to the creek or getting out for a hike. It's currently open at 6:30 a.m. daily, closing at 2 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on weekends.
I love that we're continuing to get more casual breakfast and lunch options downtown. This is exactly the kind of place I want on a Saturday morning when I don't necessarily want a full sit-down brunch …just really good food and coffee before getting on with the day. Pro tip- it’s easy to order ahead online (even schedule this!), and grab and go at their pickup window to avoid a wait…super easy.
My Golden weekend: Grab breakfast here early, then walk down Washington Avenue toward Clear Creek before downtown gets busy.
2. Confluence Coffee — Golden's Cool New Neighborhood Coffee Shop
Confluence Coffee recently opened at 1205 Cheyenne Street in the old Pangea building, and they did such a cool job with the space.
This isn't just a grab-your-coffee-and-leave kind of place. There are window seats, tucked-away nooks, a community table and even a cozy back space called the Groove Room. The garage space can also open up for markets, dinners and community events.
The coffee program is equally thoughtful. They're serving coffee from Idle Hands Roasting Company, along with pastries and bread from Rebel Bread and milk from Colorado's Morning Fresh Dairy. I especially love seeing someone take an existing Golden space and completely reimagine it. It feels fresh and design-forward but still very much like a neighborhood coffee shop … exactly the type of local business that makes Golden feel like Golden.
My Golden weekend: Grab a latte, find a corner and actually sit for a while.
3. The Newly Redeveloped Ulysses Sports Complex + Dog Park
The transformation of Ulysses Sports Complex is another Golden improvement worth checking out. The City of Golden's redevelopment included new multi-use fields, an expanded and relocated dog park, improved parking and drainage, new restrooms, paths and sidewalks, a picnic shelter and a completely new playground designed for a range of ages and abilities. The full park reopened in January 2026.
For dog owners, Homer's Run is the off-leash dog park at the complex, and the larger Ulysses property also has baseball and soccer fields plus a 21,500-square-foot skate park. It's one of those places that makes Golden such a great place to actually live. You can take the dog out, bring the kids, get some fresh air and have plenty of room to spread out without needing to make a whole day of it.
My Golden weekend: Coffee in hand, dog in the car, and an early trip to the park before the rest of the day gets started.
4. The Newly Renovated Patio at Bridgewater Grill
This might be one of the biggest glow-ups in Golden this year. The patio at Bridgewater Grill at The Golden Hotel has been completely redone, and the new buildout is gorgeous. It feels elevated and high-end while still taking advantage of one of the best things about the location: sitting right along Clear Creek. The expanded outdoor space now includes open-air creekside seating, a full outdoor bar, lounge areas, two fire pits and a stage for live music and events.
It's such a great option for meeting clients for a drink, happy hour with friends or just sitting outside on a beautiful Golden evening. And because you're right next to Clear Creek, it feels like a little escape without actually leaving downtown. One thing to know: patio tables are currently first come, first served, so I would plan accordingly on a beautiful weekend.

5. Hike the Brand-New T. rex Tooth Trail on South Table Mountain
And finally, one of the coolest additions to Golden isn't a restaurant or business at all.
The new T. rex Tooth Trail opened on South Table Mountain on May 26, 2026. The 1.5-mile natural-surface, multi-use trail connects with Fossil Trail, Old Quarry Trail and Basalt Cap Loop to create a scenic roughly three-mile loop.
The trail runs near the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and across easements on state and U.S. Department of Energy property, opening up a new connection on the southern side of South Table Mountain.
And the name is very Golden.
It's a nod to a Tyrannosaurus rex tooth discovered on the southwest side of South Table Mountain in 1874, considered the first recorded T. rex tooth discovery in North America. The trail also passes the historic Colorado Amphitheater, a natural-stone amphitheater constructed in 1935.
So you're getting Golden views, a new trail and a little local paleontology and history all in one hike.
The trail is open to hikers, runners, cyclists and equestrians. As always on South Table, stay on designated trails…and keep an eye out for rattlesnakes during the warmer months.
